Earlier this year, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign were hit with a copyright infringement lawsuit from the estate of Donna Summer over their unauthorized sample of her 1977 hit, “I Feel Love.” But luckily for Ye and Dolla, the matter has been settled and everyone can avoid going to court over the matter.
According Digital Music News, the issue regarding Ye and Dolla $ign's song sample on their track, “Good (Don't Die),” is officially over. Interestingly enough, the court documents, which were filed on June 20, do not outline any details as to the agreement reached other than that the case itself is “dismissed with prejudice.” In other words, this case cannot be brought back to court under any circumstances. You have to wonder what led to this final resolution.

In his lawsuit, Sudano claimed that although the artists requested permission to use Summer's song, they were denied by both her estate and her label, Universal Music Enterprises. Instead, according to Sudano, Ty and Ye “used the song's iconic melody as the hook for their offending song and essentially re-recorded the key, instantly recognizable parts of 'I Feel Love' almost verbatim using a singer who looks like summer, with minor changes to the lyrics (also done without permission.”
You and his team got really creative trying to get around copyright infringement, didn't you? Donna Summer's estate wasn't the only one to deny Kanye permission to use Summer's work on his and Ty Dolla $ign's duet album. Vultures 1, as he found that he wasn't holding quite the same weight that he was just a few years ago.
Both Nicki Minaj and Ozzy Osbourne confirmed on social media that they refused to endorse samples of their music on the album due to Kanye's very public origins in anti-Semitism and hate groups. “West is known as a controversial public figure whose behavior has led many brands and business partners to disassociate themselves from him,” Sudano's lawsuit states.
Don't be surprised if more artists (living and deceased) deny Kanye permission to sample their work, as MAGA's ways have turned off many of his peers in music. He may end up with options like Kid Rock and Ted Nugent for his musical creations in the future. I am just saying'.
