Above the last one few days ago, social media was set ablaze thanks to a viral street interview with a young woman with a certain favorite sex drive. The original video, posted by creative duo Tim and Dee TV on June 11, captures a young woman, named Hailey, asking what “motion in bed makes a man crazy every time?”
Her response: “You need to give them that 'hawk' and spit that stalk!” he says with a country twang in the clip. “Hawk tuah” is meant to imitate the sound of spitting and…you can come to your own conclusion as to what “that clack” is.
The clip, shot in Nashville, has been remixed, recreated and talked about so much on the Internet that Haley is now called the “Hawk Tuah Girl”: She has her own line of merchandise and is even rumored to have been fired from her job.
Earlier this week, as the video made its rounds online, a parody account called the Tippah County Tribune made a post joking that the woman, dubbed “Hailey Wellington,” had been fired from her job as a teacher at Epstein Day School. .
“We have kids spitting on each other and everything else… They really look up to her as a role model and emulate the things she does,” read a fake statement from the fake principal of the fake school. “We love Haley, but unfortunately we cannot allow this type of behavior from one of our faculty members.”
The post even joked that Hailey was going to host a fundraiser to “retain a lawyer” and pay for her legal battle with the school.
This rumor may have been false, but then what is true? The answer is “Hawk Tuah” merchandise. The original creators who interviewed Hailey teamed up with her and a local custom merchandise creator to sell her silly line of clothing. They're partnering with a Tennessee-based brand called Fathead Threads to create “authorized merchandise” featuring Hailey.
One of the most viral items being sold is a cap that reads “Hawk Tuah '24“as if it were a political campaign, and each of those words were running for President and Vice President. The campaign slogan is, apparently, 'Spit that banger.'” Hats cost $40 if signed or $30 without a signature.
“The Fathead family is extremely grateful for the response we've gotten over the 'Hawk Tuah' movement,” wrote the brand behind the clothing. “However, with the rapid volume of messages and calls we try to respond as quickly as possible. Please allow up to 24 hours for us to contact you. We appreciate your patience!”
Another product is a $38 “oversized graphic tee” with red text featuring different angles of the Hawk Tuah girl and the famous slogan printed in large font. If you want to spend just $20, there's also the “I Need Some Hawk Tuah” t-shirt and the “If she don't hawk tuah, I don't want to get tired.” (The second part is meant to sound like “talk to her”, of course).
The original clip featuring “Hawk Tuah Girl” is part of a larger video posted by Tim & Dee TV of interviews with different people while on a night out on Nashville's Broadway Street earlier this month. Hawk Tuah Girl is even asked to “leave a message on her last body” to which she replies: “I love you puki forever!”
