Diddy cleaned up his Instagram account last week and faced backlash for deleting his apology video to Cassie. Among those criticizing Sean Combs for the “stupid” move is ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, who ripped the embattled music executive.
“You deleted all the videos from your Instagram account, including the one I just showed,” she said on Tuesday's (June 25) episode. Presented by Stephen A. Smith. “If you had a million photos, if you had a million videos and you decided to delete 999,999, that's what you should keep if you're honest.”
Stephen A. continued: “And I know you've taken a lot of flak, and there's been shards of criticism all over the place aimed at your direction. Not that it wasn't worth it… Although one could argue, the ex you hit had to deal with a lot more than you had to deal with in terms of criticism.”
Smith just couldn't understand how Diddy or his PR team thought it would be the right move to delete Cassie's apology video when public opinion wasn't on his side.
“Delete everything else – not this,” he claimed. “Don't you want people to know you were sorry? That you were incredibly sad? That you deeply regret the outrageous actions you were caught on camera doing?''
The noisy one First Take The host added: “By deleting the video, you're throwing it all out the window. Chances are the very few people who would believe that actually have a reason to continue to believe you.”
Fans noticed that Diddy purged his IG account last week, including the apology video in response to videos showing him physically abusing Cassie at a Los Angeles hotel. CNN shared the March 2016 video in May, showing Diddy dragging Cassie to the floor of a bank of hotel elevators in Los Angeles.
Diddy said he was “disgusted” with his behavior in the apology video shared on his Instagram account. “It's so hard to reflect on the darkest moments in your life, but sometimes you have to,” she said. “I was upset. I mean, I hit rock bottom. But I find no excuses. My behavior in this video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in this video. loathe. I was disgusted when I did it, I am disgusted now.”
