Martin Mull, o comedian and actor known for roll ins Indication, Roseanne and Arrested Developmenthe died at the age of 80.
His daughter, Maggie Mull, announced the news on Friday, writing: “It is with great sadness that I share that my father passed away at home on June 27th after a brave battle against a long illness.” He added, “He was known for excelling in every creative field imaginable and also for the Red Roof Inn commercials. He would find this funny funny. He was never funny.”
“My father will be greatly missed by his wife and daughter, his friends and colleagues, his fellow artists and comedians and musicians, and – the mark of a truly extraordinary man – by many, many dogs,” Maggie continued. “I loved him so much.”
Mull won recognition for his involvement in Mary Hartman and its spinoff Fernwood 2 Nights. He later took on recurring features on shows in the 90s as the head of Willard Kraft Sabrina, the teenage witch and as Leon Carp's boss, and friend of Roseanne Connor (Roseanne Barr), Roseanne.
The comic was also known for its memorable character Arrested Development as private detective Gene Parmesan and earned an Emmy nomination in 2016 for his role as Bob “The Eagle” Bradley in Veep.
