Lana Del Rey and Quavo's “Tough” tops this week's new music poll.
Music fans voted in a poll published on Friday (July 5). Advertising signpicking the duo's just-released Western-trap track as their favorite new music release of the past week.
Lana and Quavo's new collaboration garnered more than 66% of the vote. Voters this week chose “Tough” from new music releases from Kesha, Childish Gambino, Eminem feat. Big Sean and BabyTron, Morgan Wallen and Zach Bryan.
Lana Del Rey brought the Migos rapper onstage to perform a surprise debut of “Tough” at her sold-out (and weather-delayed) show at Fenway Park Stadium on June 20, right after promoting of the song in an Instagram clip that week.
Part country, part trap and alt-pop, the Andrew Watt and Cirkut-produced track has a dreamy hook that's hard to stop humming when the song ends, with a chorus they both share: “Hard as a scarf a pair of old leather boots/ Like the blue, red dirt/ Like a brass .38/ Hard as the stuff in your grandpa's glass/ Life will do what it does/ Sure the good lord is above / I'm cut like a shining diamond in the rough, hard”.
“I'll show you around… Come take a ride with me. Whenever. Whenever you're ready, call me,” Quavo tells Lana as the song comes to a close.
“Our new song is out with the hardest rapper I know @quavohuncho,” Del Rey wrote in an Instagram post on the day of the release, while Quavo predicted the track would be the “Song Of The Summer” on his suspension.
A home video music video for “Tough” was also unveiled alongside the single's release this week, showcasing the pair's chemistry as they spend a sweet, intimate day together in the countryside.
Among the new acts following “Tough” in this week's poll are Kesha's brand new song “Joyride,” with 21% of the vote, and Childish Gambino's “Lithonia,” with 5% of the vote.
