Soulja Boy woke up this morning with the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle on his mind.
Soulja tweeted the Toronto rapper on Tuesday (July 16), saying, “You let me down.”
He then followed this tweet with a reminder that no one came to his defense. “Doing all the weak songs with them n—-z look where it got, none of them you worked with or toured with had come back to you,” he said.
While he initially remained silent as his former artist engaged in a historic rap battle with Lamar, Drake's former Young Money boss Lil Wayne recently tried to show support while performing in Vegas. As his song with Drake “The Moto,” played, Wayne tweaked some of the lyrics and rapped, “They don't like us” while holding up his OVO locket. Kendrick referenced Wayne on “Not Like Us” when he rapped, “F—d on Wayne girl while he was in jail, that's unfair'/ Then make his face scrunch up like ab-h sorry.”
A handful of Drake's former associates were the ones who started this battle. Future, Metro Boomin, Rick Ross and Kendrick have collaborated with the rapper in the past. Some more than others.
Soulja and Drake also have a history.
We all remember the meme which resulted from the appearance of the Atlanta rapper Breakfast Club when he reminded everyone that Drake interrupted the “What is Hanenin?“Lyric to Song”I miss you.” When host Charlemagne Tha God brought up Drake and “the biggest rapper in the world,” Soulja jumped out of his seat and said, “Drake?! The n—a embodied by Pusha T? Drake?! You better stop playing with me in here. You are talking about the light colored n—a from [Degrassi]?” He then mentioned “What's Hanenin,” yelling, “Copy my entire stream! Word for word! Bar-for-bar!”
