Big Sean has been an active rapper since he was a teenager and has been a part of major Hip-Hop moments over the years. Via a new On The Radar freestyle, Big Sean aimed some bars at an unnamed enemy that fans at X assumed to be approx. Kendrick Lamar.
Given the still heated nature of the war of words between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, On The Radar's freestyle was analyzed in large part due to the Detroit rapper's connection to both rappers. Most may remember K-Dot delivering perhaps the hardest verse of 2013 on Sean's track “Control,” which also featured Jay Electronica. In this song, Lamar took shots at several top rappers and put names on top, sparking a flurry of responses and upsetting the industry.
Sean On The Radar's freestyle delivered to a fellow Detroiter, the late Aaliyah's 'If Your Girl Only Knew', opens with bars that were open for interpretation.
“I had to change the home team because they committed treason/N*gas was looking for an engagement like they bent their knee/I got better things to do than find someone to hook up with,” Sean said. Initial reaction was that the bars were inspired by 2024's top rap beef so far, but DJ Hed, who is close to Lamar, said it's another popular figure who shares Lamar's zodiac sign.
“I talked to Sean. The bar was “I've got better things to do than find someone to hide with” [a]and it wasn't for Dot. Bar headed to a different Gemini,” DJ Hed shared on X. The other Gemini in this equation is supposed to be Ye aka Kanye West, but nothing has been confirmed.
There's beef between Big Sean and Ye after the Chicago producer and designer said signing Sean to GOOD Music was a terrible decision on an episode of Drink Champs.
