The 76th Emmy Awards nominations are once again here to highlight the Academy’s taste in television, which might also line up with the best shows to premiere from June 2023 to May 2024. (Yes, the Emmys just happened last January, due to the WGA/SAG strikes, but this year’s ceremony should likely take place as scheduled this September.
Having ended last year, HBO’s Succession won’t be around to dominate in the Drama categories, leaving shows like House of the Dragon and Shōgun to potentially gain some traction with nominations. Meanwhile, The Bear‘s second season is eligible for consideration, and given the way the first season performed last time, it’s likely to be heavily featured alongside other contenders.
With Shōgun officially moving into the Drama Series category, the Limited Series category may end up spotlighting shows including Netflix’s spring breakout Baby Reindeer. As always with the Emmys, we can expect a fair amount of repetition amongst the nominees — as well as at least one or two fun surprises.
The 2024 Emmy nominations will be announced Wednesday, July 17th at 8:30 a.m. PT. Watch Tony Hale and Sheryl Lee Ralph read out the nominees on YouTube. We’ll be updating this post live as the noms come in.
