Big Sean's season is back. After more than four years since his last effort, in 2020 Detroit 2the rapper announced his next album, Better Me Than You.
Better Me Than You will be Sean Don's sixth studio LP and is due out on August 9th. “BETTER ME THAN YOU album August 9. Pre save + Vinyl (link in bio) It's been a journey I can't wait to share with you all,” she wrote on social media on Thursday (July 18).
Sean listened to the fans and delivered another single to bring momentum to the project, dropping “Yes” on Friday (July 19).
FNZ's smooth production track finds the GOOD Music alum taunting critics by leaving him off their top five rappers lists. “I'd rather give you my whole soul, don't need to sell it/ Might piss off your rap, Mount Rushmore after I scale it/ Blue streaks when I hit the strip, know we make it like Elvis,” he raps.
The 36-year-old's album clock may have been speeded up by a leak, which found a purported 14-track project from Sean surfacing online.
“Starting to drop this new music before it all leaks BIG SEAN x THE ALCHEMIST soon,” one captioned. Post on Instagram July 17 in response to the alleged leak.
Sean ruffled some feathers earlier this week with his “On the Radar Freestyle” over Aaliyah's 1996 classic “If Your Girl Only Knew.” Fans speculated who Sean Don was taking shots at when he rapped, “I got better things to do than find somebody to hook up with/ Otherwise, I ain't got nothing.”
DJ Hed hinted took aim at his former boss Ye (formerly known as Kanye West). “I talked to Sean. The bar was 'I got better things to do then find someone to beef with' And it wasn't for Dot,” Hed tweeted. “The bar appealed to a different Gemini.” (You were born on June 8, which makes him a Gemini.)
Sean tried to put an end to the speculation himself in a since-deleted Tweet: “I'll get so many narratives, I talk to haters just finding something to point out that they don't like about me. It's not even worth explaining because I'm just focusing on the music.”
A disgruntled individual with the username Bigseandon811 did not take kindly to what he perceived to be disrespect towards Ye and allegedly leaked Sean's music. “Because he wants to disrespect Ye so much, here's the album, we call him and his whole team,” the leaker wrote, according toalbum-leaked-kanye-west-fan-1236076378/” target=”_blank”> Variety.
Big Sean returned to the music scene in March with his single “Precision” and has been keeping busy with assists from Jessie Reyez and Eminem. His last three albums have topped the Billboard 200, so Sean will try to make it four in a row.
