There aren't many places where you can order Popeye's wings at 4:30 a.m., but New York lives up to its nickname of the “city that never sleeps.” After a night in the studio and looking for some fuel before hitting the gym, Cardi B ordered the new Honey Lemon Wings at Popeyes and gave a brutally honest review for fans to hear on social media in the wee hours of Wednesday morning (July ). 24).
“Popeyes you really messed with that flavor because it's not that flavor,” he said in an Instagram Stories video. “That honey lemon pepper flavor or that sweet flavor on it, it's just not good. It tastes like af-king Sprite soda. I do not like.
Cardi continued: “On a scale of one to 10, I'll give it two. I like the other, I like the sweet heat. I was trying to be a little different. I was trying to make lemon pepper, [but] I did not do it [think] it would come with a sweet kick. I do not like. It's dubbing.”
The Grammy-winning rapper shared that she's been in the studio for three straight nights and it's finally time to go home and hit the gym. However, it did show some love in New York for its late-night dining options, unlike many cities in the United States.
“What state is better than New York? Because they're literally still eating Popeye at 4:30 in the morning,” he said. “That's crazy. There's no place on earth that serves Popeye at 4:30 in the morning. Even though it's a dub… Your state doesn't give like New York!”
Says a Popeye rep Advertising sign that the chain welcomes all “ratings and reviews” of its wings from customers.
“If you can't stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen,” quips a company representative. “And we're in the kitchen. Very. … We believe variety is the spice of life, so we've got six flavors for wing lovers like Cardi. We're not surprised that Cardi loved the taste of Sweet 'N Spicy wings. It's not the first time that Cardi B critical of Popeye. In June 2023, she posted a video of herself eating chicken from the fast food chain and complained that it was too big and “the size of her face”.
“Literally, it's the size of my face — look! It's too big, it's too big for me and I don't like that,” he had said at the time.
Cardi is no stranger to reviewing her meals, and teamed up with celebrity food critic Keith Lee in March to give their take on a burger joint in Los Angeles.
The rapper continues to hole up in the studio after promising that her long-awaited sophomore album would indeed arrive later this year.
“I want to say this to the Bardy gang or anyone who is just a fan of my music or even my craziness… I have my good days and my bad days, but you know what, whether it's good or bad, I couldn't be happier with the obvious anticipation for my album. Sometimes I get a little aggressive because I know I don't like being told what to do, but I promise you it's coming THIS YEAR,” he confirmed to X on July 18. “Thank you for the love and anticipation and always holding me down.
