Sinéad O'Connor's official cause of death was determined to be chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma.
The cause of death was revealed on O'Connor's death certificate, which was filed by the late singer's family earlier this week, according to the Irish IndependentThe death certificate was filed one year after O'Connor was found dead in her London apartment on July 26, 2023. At the time of her death, O'Connor was 56 years old.
O'Connor's death was initially ruled to be due to “natural causes,” but the death certificate provided specific details about the reasons for her passing. Specifically, it cited an “exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma along with mild lower respiratory tract infection.”
Even a year after her death, tributes to O'Connor continue to pour in. Last month, Eddie Vedder paid tribute to the singer during Pearl Jam's Dublin concert with a cover of Warren Zevon's “Keep Me in Your Heart.” Meanwhile, O'Connor's daughter, Roisin Waters, gave a spectacular rendition of “Nothing Compares 2 U” at a tribute concert for her mother.
However, not all tributes are good tributes, as the National Wax Museum in Dublin discovered last week.
