Surely you didn't think Lady Gaga would fly all the way to Paris for just one performance at the Summer Olympics? After the singer set Sienne on fire on Friday night when she wowed the rainy riverside crowd and everyone watching from the comfort of their homes around the world, Mother Monster graced her Parisian fans later in the weekend with a steal previewing two songs destined for her upcoming seventh studio album.
In one Instagram Stories On Sunday, Gaga teased a first listen of her follow-up to 2020 Chromatica. “I am so deeply touched by my French fans this week outside the hotel,” she wrote before stepping out to play the new music. “I'll go out and say goodbye tonight with a few seconds #LG7.”
Gaga then, as promised, piped music as camera flashes flashed into the night and pumped her fist while playing songs on a laptop from the sunroof of a limousine. The two songs had strong beats and bass-heavy keys, as well as lyrics that were hard to decipher over the voices of her amplified French fans, although it appeared at one point that Gaga uttered the words “I've been this held me”.
The untitled album will be Gaga's first new studio album since then Chromaticawith no release date announced yet.
The street surprise came after Gaga spent time in swimming and gymnastics competitions following her cabaret-style performance in Paris ahead of the official start of the summer games. Gaga sang the French-language “Mon Truc en Plume” (“My Thing With Feathers”) in a highly choreographed, playful routine in which she jumped up and down a grand staircase surrounded by dancers carrying giant pink pom poms.
Gaga also appeared to make some news over the weekend when she referred to longtime boyfriend Michael Polansky as “my fiancé” when introduced to French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal.
