West and Ty Dolla $ign had long teased the latter Vultures dose—after even before the first fell. West initially said the second and third tranches would drop on March 8 and April 5, respectively. we haven't heard much about the talked about third volume since then. He said Hypebeastin March, that the albums would be released independently, through his own platforms, though Vultures 2 it's also available on major digital streaming platforms. Vultures 1 has been widely circulated on streaming platforms since its release in February.
Independence can be a sign of authenticity for West, as he put it the Hypebeast interview, but it is also a marriage of convenience. From the flurry of activity that included wearing a “White Lives Matter” t-shirt and posting that he wanted to go to “Death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE,” West lost his massive Adidas partnership, his contract with Creative Arts Agency and lots of commercial and cultural goodwill.
Late last year, he he apologized to the “Jewish community,” saying, in part, “I deeply regret any pain I may have caused. I am committed to starting with myself and learning from this experience to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future. Your forgiveness is important to me and I am committed to making amends and promoting unity.” While the Anti-Defamation League welcomed the apology, the American Jewish Committee said it was “strange and possibly a ploy to gain more attention.” Some analyses suggested that the apology may have been created with artificial intelligence. West has since been pictured wearing a Burzum T-shirt, the band fronted by disgraced black metal musician Varg Vikernes, the convicted murderer and perpetrator of racial hatred targeting Muslims and Jews.
While its critical reception Vultures 1 was mixed and often negative, the album was quite successful commercially. The debuted atop the Billboard 200and the song “Carnival”, a collaboration with Rich the Kid and Playboi Carti, reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 a few weeks after its initial release. West and Ty Dolla $ign also held various listening events around it Vultures 1 and entitled Rolling Loud California.
