Lil Wayne fans have the chance to add the ultimate artifact to their collection with Weezy's 1999 notebook filled with handwritten lyrics heading to the auction house.
Moments in Time posted the auction earlier in August and is asking $5 million for the notebook that includes lyrics from Wayne's lyrics to Hot Boys tracks like “We On Fire” and “I Feel.”
Both tracks landed on the Hot Boys' second album Guerrillawhich was released in July 1999. The project debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. “We On Fire” served as the album's lead single and peaked at No. 5 on the Hot Rap Songs chart.
The iconic notebook is back on the auction block after a years-long legal battle when Wayne tried to claim ownership of the property in 2019. A Louisiana court ultimately sided with Moments in Time when Wayne allegedly failed to respond to the lawsuit.
The artifact was originally listed for $250,000 in 2019 and defended the price increase to TMZ claiming that “Lil Wayne is one of the greatest rappers of all time, making his handwritten song notes incredibly valuable.”
A man reportedly discovered the notebook in a car that once belonged to Cash Money Records at a dealership where he worked, leading to a legal battle over who was the rightful owner of the lyric pad.
Some of the pages were According to reports destroyed by water damage. The person who found the notebook stored it in his garage, which was flooded by the storms of the devastating 2005 Hurricane Katrina.
According to the legal documents Moments on the Time websiteJudge Kern Reese declared the unnamed person in possession of the notebook the rightful owner of the property during a civil court ruling in February.
