Pharmakon return with their first new album in five years: Mango arrives October 4 via Sacred bones. Pioneering the return of Margaret Chardiet's experimental industrial work is “Wier and Warp”, the album's nine-minute debut single. Listen to it below.
“The lyrics for this song started with a euphoric and intensely hallucinatory dream. In it, the 'I' didn't exist, it just was,” explained Chardiet. “I had died on earth, becoming a part of it, or many parts of it—through the divine transformation of decay. And I was more content with this way of being than I ever was with life as a human. This dream logic was based on the hope that when we die, the body simply disintegrates into the energy that was trapped within its matter.”
During his five songs, Mango explores Chardiet's revulsion at the way humans use and abuse the environment. It is Pharmakon's fifth album, after 2019 Gobble.
This fall, Pharmakon will embark on a European tour dating back to the record's release. He will perform in Austria, London, Berlin, Oslo, Prague and other cities before finishing with a set at Italy's Improved Sequence II festival on October 26. Find her full list of tour dates below.
