Ice Spice's Y2K! arrived on July 26 as one of the most anticipated debut rap albums in recent memory. The 24-year-old — born January 1, 2000 — has won accolades for most artists in the past two years since becoming the face of the New York scene.
While she could have approached the project in a myriad of different ways, Ice made the conscious decision to return to the essence of what made her a star. He created a heavy project with right-wing producer RIOTUSA, who laid the sonic foundation sharply, then had Mike Dean come in from the bullpen to lend his mixing/mastering expertise.
The Bronx princess continued to tease her looks and exude unbridled charisma along with some toilet-themed lyrics during the Spice Cabinet fun Y2K!. “We wanted to do what we love,” said Ice Advertising sign. “I just love drill beats, and especially his. We shut down for a whole year and made it whenever we could. We have the busiest schedules, but I think that's why it's important to have a close bond with whoever you work with.”
She occasionally experimented with her voice and flows, but she never went off the highway to crash before her destination. With 10 tracks and 23 minutes of performance with cameos from Travis Scott, Gunna and Central Cee, Ice Spice kept her debut concise rather than choosing to overload a burdensome project like some of her peers.
Y2K! began to take shape at the top of the year when Ice Spice had her toes in the sand enjoying the beaches and tranquility of Turks and Caicos where she recorded a few records during the trip. She would set up shop wherever her career took her while spending time in Miami, Los Angeles and at home in New York.
Ice also revealed that she was hitting on Chief Keef a lot and riding around Miami to the Chicago workout pioneer's music, which influenced her creativity on the album. The Grammy-nominated MC also admits there have been upheavals and unexpected hurdles before the finish line: “For both projects I've done, there have been sample issues and feature gaps that we're dealing with — but that's part of the process,” she said. he says with a shrug.
Y2K! debuted at No. 18 on this week's Billboard 200 — and despite the outside noise, the rap star is proud of her growth while touring the US with her Y2K! World tour.
“Like..? did 15k so thank you to everyone who supported me then and thank you to all the new supporters,” he said wrote to H. “Y2K! The WORLD tour was so much fun these numbers are great and you should see the Boston crowd last night in New York TOMORROW”.

“Oh Shhh…” (feat. Travis Scott)
Producers: RIOTUSA & GOLDIN
I had recorded this record first. I think I was in Miami. I had sent him this record and he said it was fire and uploaded it. When he said my name, I gasped. [Travis] he had me out in his sold out stadium [show in London]. Period, he ate that. His show is crazy.
I love our record and the video we did for “Oh Shhh…” He hit me up congratulating me. [Sei Less] it's one of my favorite NYC restaurants, honestly. I have been so many times in the last year.

“Popa” & “B—h I'm Packin'” (feat. Gunna)
“Popa” Producers: RIOTUSA, Synthetic & UpMadeIt
“B—h I'm Packin” Producers: RIOTUSA, Ojivolta & DJH
[“Popa”] it was recorded in turkish on my birthday i think. That is a fact in itself — I was enlightened. I love Turks. I recorded both records on the same Turks trip. I had just sent [Gunna] he loved the song and took it immediately. Shout him out too because his album [One of Wun] it's fire Turks were where they were. I was eating jerky chicken wings and on the sand, shaking.

“Plenty of Sun”
Producers: RIOTUSA, UpMadeIt & Synthetic
I was in Miami at the time listening to a lot of Chief Keef and driving. That's where I made this record. It was a mixture of [recording locations] for real. I liked four songs in Miami and a couple in the Turks and some in New York. I think a little bit in LA too. I just record wherever I am.

“Did It First” (featuring Central Cee)
Producers: RIOTUSA, Nico Baran & Lily Kaplan
I think I did in Miami too. Sometimes I start a record in Miami and finish it in New York. I just sent it to him and he had it. Fortunately, everyone was stuck with the records. We talked about a music video and we did it. I'm so glad we did because it's insanely cute. No complaints.
