SOFI TUKKER's exciting new album 'BREAD' is set to drop this Friday. The duo discuss how embracing sexuality was the main inspiration for the album, the Brazilian influence on their latest work, their collaboration with Heidi Klum and their upcoming tour sets with Kygo and J Balvin, and more!
Katie Bain:
We're here with SOFI TUKKER. Guys, welcome to the studio. Thanks for coming. I'm so excited about your new album. I think it's fantastic. I think it's fun, playful, sexy, and sophisticated, and so many other things. And I'm wondering when you knew it was time to get back in the studio after the last one that came out in 2022.
SOFI TUKKER:
The truth is, we never stop going into the studio. We're always baking stuff, and like for example, “Woof,” which is one of the songs on 'BREAD,' we did that before we finished the last album, 'Wet Tennis,' and we just couldn't figure out the way, we couldn't figure it out, we couldn't figure it out. I had so many different versions of the song. And then we finally got it right for this album. We're always in the studio, always making stuff, and then once we feel like the songs are telling a story, or the songs are like, Oh, wait, there's something cohesive here that feels like they should belong together. Then we make the album.
What story do you think you've landed on? And what story does this album tell?
I think this album is like a return to who we were when we started. When we started, I had just finished playing basketball. We were in college. Sophie was a jazz musician who played mostly Brazilian music. I was into house music and playing at house parties.
Keep watching for more!
