Jennifer Lopez has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck after two years of marriage, according to People and was first reported by TMZ.
The documents list the date of separation as April 26, 2024, but were filed on August 20, which marks the two-year anniversary of their wedding ceremony in Georgia. Lopez and Affleck have yet to publicly announce their split.
Lopez and Affleck first started dating in 2002 after meeting on set Giglithe first of two films in which they would star together (the second being Jersey Girl in 2004), before getting engaged. The couple delayed their planned wedding to 2003 before calling it quits in 2004. Just a month after the couple tied the knot in Las Vegas, Bennifer celebrated their August 2022 wedding in front of family and friends at their Riceboro home on the island Hampton Inn outside of Savannah, Georgia.
The wedding marked Lopez's fourth marriage, following Ojani Noa, Cris Judd and Marc Anthony. Affleck was previously married to Jennifer Garner.
“I never thought he and I would get back together,” Lopez said Bulletin board earlier this year from her relationship with the actor. “I just couldn't let go of the idea that there was something amazing out there for me, even when it was really bad — and at times it was. I always believed deep, deep down in not giving up completely. I just got to the point where I'm really okay on my own and I don't need to be in a relationship when I feel like the universe kind of opened up and I was like, “Well, there you go.”
He added of the duo who share the astrological sign of Leo, “Let me tell you, it's fiery! It's great, and it's challenging. We are both very willful. If you know what Leos are like, you know we're passionate. Oh my god, so passionate, both of them. One of us goes off on a tangent about something, it's like, “Just sit back and let him have his moment.” Or should he sit back and let me have my moment. We get to know each other that way and get to know each other again, which is also very beautiful.”
Reports of marital problems began in the spring, when Affleck was absent from the Netflix premieres in Los Angeles and Mexico City. Atlaswhich starred J.Lo. During a promo stop in Mexico City in May, a reporter asked in Spanish, “Is your divorce with Ben Affleck real? These rumours?'
In the video of the exchange, Lopez's co-star Simu Liu jumped in and said, “Okay, we're not doing that. Thanks a lot guys, we really appreciate it. Thank you.” Lopez then looked at the reporter and said, “You know better than that.”
