Kehlani announced on Wednesday (August 21) that she is finally calling it quits While we wait 2 mixtape next Wednesday, August 28th.
The cover features the singer looking directly at his own reflection, a nod to the artwork for the original While We Wait mixtape where their reflection in a small circular mirror took center stage. They were teasing While we wait 2 last month by publishing one Instagram photo notebook page with title written on it. A week later, she was posted “2 week tape done at home. now mix. ready?” while covering the seemingly 12-song tracklist.
Kehlani was released While We Wait on February 22, 2019 via Atlantic Records, and the nine-track project featured collaborations with Musiq Soulchild (“Footsteps”), Dom Kennedy (“Nunya”), Ty Dolla $ign (“Nights Like This”) and 6lack (” RPG “). While We Wait peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard 200. She performed “Nights Like This” at the top of her NPR Tiny Desk performance three weeks ago.
While we wait 2 will arrive two months after the singer's fourth studio album Conflictwhich peaked at No. 25 on the Billboard 200. Kehlani's Crash World tour kicks off next month on September 4 at Minneapolis' Armory and will hit major cities including Chicago, Toronto, Atlanta, Miami and Los Angeles before wrap up Bay Area native tour Nov. 2 at San Francisco's Chase Center.
Meanwhile, “Kehlani” is currently climbing the Bulletin board charts — namely Jordan Adetunji's viral song. It is currently at No. 25 (chart dated August 24) on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached No. 1 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 last week. The singer of the same name appears on the official remix.
