After calling out his fellow Fugees in an impromptu diss record, Pras is now walking behind those underground bars that were dumped on Lauryn Hill.
Widely regarded as one of the most iconic Hip-Hop groups of all time, the Fugees have also earned a reputation for being hot a**, thanks in large part to their shenanigans, most notably Lauryn Hill's pretentious behavior.
Pras had time for Lauryn Hill, dropping a diss record called “Bar Mitzfa” following the not-so-surprising news that the Fugees had canceled tour dates.
In the song, he wails the frustrated rap, “Don't blame me, blame her, she messed up / Ain't another fucking dime what I said to 'Klef.'
Now, in a new interview with Vulturethrows cold water on the song, claiming it's “not a diss track, but more of a family feud.
“You're a family, you have internal disagreements, but it's not going to be at a level where I condone it – that makes no sense,” he said. “Artistically, sometimes we say things because that's how we express ourselves. This part I'm telling my truth. When I was writing the record, those lines just came out.”
He also acknowledged the fan's frustration with Lauryn Hill, saying, “They're paying their hard-earned money to see you.”
In the same breath, he claims he's surprised to see Hill receive so much backlash for her behavior.
“I've never seen this kind of fan reaction to Lauryn Hill,” Pras said. “There's a disclaimer — “We're helping pay your bill. As we should be glad that you came, you should be glad that we are coming.' This dynamic goes both ways. It's tough love. But this is not an indictment of her and her character. The only thing people complain about is the delay.”
Pras confirms Lauryn Hill's delay is an issue
Like many, Pras also confirmed that they are victims of Hill's penchant for delay.
“There's obviously a caveat,” he said. “We don't even ask her if she'll be on time anymore. we say, “How long will it take?” It gets to a point where you say, is it worth it?'
Prior to Pras' release of the song, the Fugees announced the cancellation of their US tour date. To further kill any goodwill she had with fans, Ms Hill said that negative media coverage following the cancellations of previous shows and always appearing late were the reasons behind the poor ticket sales.
Pras, who has legal issues to worry about, says he intends to be part of the shows that will take place during the European leg of the tour.
we will see.
