Jason Tatum, Anthony Edwards and Domantas Sabonis are also among the five stars in new Obama series
Five of the The NBA's biggest stars will be the focus of an upcoming Netflix documentary that will offer “an unfiltered view of life at the top of professional basketball.”
Start 5 will revolve around Los Angeles Lakers legend LeBron James, Minnesota Timberwolves rising star Anthony Edwards, and Boston Celtics title winner Jayson Tatum — all three of whom just won gold medals with Team USA at the Olympics of Paris — as well as the Miami Heat always — entertaining Jimmy Butler and the Sacramento Kings' rebounding king Domantas Sabonis.
The streaming service previewed the documentaries with a teaser featuring a group chat between the five NBA all-stars:
“The series chronicles their battles on and off the court as they pursue greatness, overcome injuries, and balance the demands of family and legacy,” Netflix added in a synopsis. “James is pushing himself harder than ever to stay healthy — and dominant — in his 21st season, while Edwards is electrifying with his rapid rise. Butler's relentless drive drives the Heat, Sabonis anchors the Kings with his versatile game, and Tatum leads the Celtics in their quest for a record 18th championship.”
Its first season Start 5 — styled after Netflix's hit NFL documentaries Quarterback — premieres on October 9 and will feature 10 episodes. The on-field talent is also paired with an all-star production team that includes James' Uninterrupted, Peyton Manning's Omaha and Barack and Michelle Obama's Higher Ground.
