Traditional country sounds dominate this week's collection of new tunes, as Zach Top exudes a very chilled country sound with his latest, “Beer for Breakfast,” while Carter Faith, Wyatt Flores, William Beckmann, and Noeline Hofmann also drop new tunes .

Zach Top, “Beer for Breakfast”
Newcomer Top has become one of country's freshest front-runners with a traditional bent since releasing his first single “Sounds Like The Radio” and follow-up album Cold Beer & Country Music. Here, he adds to his reputation as the quintessential supporter of a new generation of traditional artists with this light-hearted new release, written by Top, Kevin Denney and Carson Chamberlain. Simple acoustic guitar and Top's stellar twang launch this ode to beer as a powerhouse of emotion as the song weaves into a deftly rendered honky-tonk vibe, with piano and steel notes. “It matches the fight and the love/ Beats anything you can cook in an oven,” Top sings, infusing this ode to alcohol with some sly humor — and in the process, only expanding his resume as a reliable source for off-color country music .
Carter Faith, “Okay”
Singer-songwriter Faith has proven she can lend her ethereal vocals to any number of styles, from bluegrass numbers to sultry '70s country gems. Here, she turns up the heat on this slow ballad, as a bright pop sheen and moody piano enhance Faith's seductive voice. “You're my dopamine/ The only chemical I need to fly,” she sings, clearly excited by a powerful, charming romance, as she compares her new love to the effects of any number of chemical dependencies. Faith wrote “Alright” with Ashley Monroe and Tofer Brown.
Wyatt Flores, “Don't Wanna Say Goodnight”
Flores has built a reputation as one of the genre's most prominent new voices, a robust songwriter and singer alike. His final beats with the raw energy of a full band sound, pounding percussion and chilling guitars as he sings about how the moments with his lover never last long enough and in the wake of their breakup, he falls headlong into misery and unbridled longing to be reunited. “Don't Wanna Say Goodnight” is from Flores' upcoming album Welcome to the Plainsis released on October 18th by Island Records.
William Beckmann, “Not That Strong”
This Texan's graceful baritone is as smooth and powerful as any top-shelf bourbon and is a must-hear for any country music fan. He's also committed to the enduring country song, as noted by his latest release, which finds him aching for a lost love and bluntly stating that “when it comes to you and you move on/Baby, I'm not that strong.” When you have a voice this commanding, this kind of direct, heartfelt speech sounds like a mainline from singer to listener. Written by Beckmann, Lindsay Rimes and Brice Long, “Not That Strong” is Beckmann's first release under his recently signed deal with Warner Music Nashville.
Noeline Hofmann, “August”
Earlier this year, Canadian singer-songwriter Hofmann teamed up with Zach Bryan for a duet version of her song “Purple Gas,” which was featured on Bryan's latest project. Her new song, “August,” previews Hofmann's debut EP Purple Gas, out October 4th on La Honda Records. “August” combines stripped-down instrumentation and Hofmann's brooding, dark vocals as she sings about the hardships August brings on a farm, from farming accidents to the foreboding feeling of winter on its way. “August,” like many of her songs, draws from her own experience as a working cowgirl in Canada, and her songs are peppered with stark observations of loss and life, as well as images of the region, imbuing her work with a uniqueness that makes Hofmann an artist who stands out in a crowded group of newcomers.
