MTV Video Music Awards 2024 red carpet: photos of the best looks

The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards take place on Wednesday night (September 11) and stars are already flooding the red carpet, which this year is jet black.

The action takes place outside New York's UBS Arena, with Blackpink's LISA leading the way in an off-white hooded look with floor-length gloves. Karol G, meanwhile, looks like the fire emoji coming to life in her yellow dress that has flames rising up the bodice to a white collared neckline. Lenny Kravitz showed off his world-famous abs in a matching leather jacket and pants paired with a tie worn over his bare chest.

All three musicians — LISA, Karol and Kravitz — will perform Wednesday night, as will Chappell Roan, Camila Cabello, Eminem, GloRilla, Halsey, Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendes and others. Megan Thee Stallion will host for the first time and perform, while Katy Perry will accept the Video Vanguard Award and sing a medley of hits from throughout her career.

Heading into Wednesday's show, Taylor Swift leads the nominations with 12 nods, followed by her “Fortnight” collaborator Post Malone with 11. Eminem is next with eight, while Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion, Sabrina Carpenter and SZA each have seven and Benson Boone, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Charli XCX, GloRilla, LISA, Olivia Rodrigo and Teddy Swims each have four.
