Short n' Sweet earned 117,000 equivalent U.S. album units in the week ending Sept. 12 (down 25%), according to Luminate — largely due to streaming activity of the album's 12 songs.
Also in the top 10 of the Billboard 200, David Gilmour lands his third top 10 solo album, his first studio effort in nine years. Luck and Strangebows to No. 10.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the US based on multimetric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units include album sales, track album equivalents (TEA) and streaming album equivalents (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale or 10 individual tracks sold from an album or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 official paid/subscription audio and video streams generated from songs from an album. Sales are 15,000 (down 45%) and TEA units are 1,000 (down 5%).
Numbers 2-6 on the Billboard 200 are all non-movers. Post Malone's former front man F-1 Tris ranks at No. 2 (72,000 equivalent album units gained, down 16%). David Gilmour completes the new top 10, as his first studio album in nine years, Luck and Strangedebuts at No. 10. It is his third top 10 solo effort. He previously visited the top 10 with solo sets Lockable rattle (No. 5 in 2015) and On an island (No. 6, 2006).
The new album earned 32,000 equivalent album units in the US in the week ending September 12. Of that amount, album sales total 30,000 (it's the week's best-selling album and drops to No. 1 on Top album Sales), SEA Units consists of 2,000 units (equivalent to 2.17 million streams per ' requirement of the songs in the set) and the TEA units are a negligible amount. The album's first week sales were boosted by its availability on four vinyl variants (which combined to sell 8,500 copies), two CD variants and a Blu-ray audio format.
Gilmour is also a member of Pink Floyd and the iconic rock band's 10 top 10 chart albums (since 1973's No.1 The Dark Side of the Moon until 2014 The Endless River) arrived in the area after Gilmour joined the band in 1967. (The Dark Side of the Moon holds the record for the most weeks on the Billboard 200 of any album in the chart's history — 990 weeks — after most recently entering the list in May.)
