More than two decades after completing the collection, Regina Spektor is officially releasing her second album, SongsPreviously available only as a CD sold at their live shows, the 2002 LP will now be released widely on streaming platforms and vinyl beginning November 29. As a lead-in, it shared the fan-favorite song “Samson.”
“It’s hard to believe that after 22 years of living an improvised life, these little songs can be reborn,” Spektor said in a statement. “I used to burn a few CDs and head downtown hoping someone would buy them out of my backpack. Now, beautifully mastered by Bob Ludwig and available to listen to online or on limited-edition vinyl, I hope all the people who heard them over the years can enjoy them in a new way.”
Songs It also houses a song some listeners might have heard called “Consequence of Sounds,” which sounds vaguely familiar for some reason.
To celebrate the return to her Songs Additionally, she has also planned a special show in Warsaw, Brooklyn, to play the album in full, along with other favorites from her discography. The show is scheduled for December 10th; ticket details will be announced soon.
