Pixies have shared “Motoroller,” the latest new song from their upcoming album The night the zombies came.
Built around a line of acoustic and electric guitars, “Motoroller” rides a scooter through Berlin, with vocalist Black Francis offering various vague details that emerge along the way. Meanwhile, new vocalist and bassist Emma Richardson (ex-Band of Skulls) takes Francis’ melodies up a notch and delivers a handful of satisfying vocal harmonies.

“This is one of those songs where there are little threads that you can follow and they lead you somewhere,” Francis said of the song in a statement. “But they’re not necessary to the experience. You can start looking into the lyrics and maybe you won’t find exactly what the story is, but you’ll find a story related to the city of Berlin. So have fun with the clues that are there.” Listen to “Motoroller” below.
“Motoroller” follows the previous one The night the zombies came singles “Oyster Beds”, “Chicken”, “You're So Impatient” and “Que Sera, Sera”. The night the zombies came is Pixies' tenth album and their first since Paz Lenchantin's departure earlier this year. The album will be released everywhere on October 25, just in time for Halloween.
