Sean “Diddy” Combs is the inspiration for a new Investigation Discovery documentary that will chronicle the disgraced mogul's “pattern of corruption,” according to a press release. The news comes on the heels of Combs' arrest on Monday (September 16), with the unsealed indictment revealing the following morning that he faces charges of sex trafficking and extortion.
Announced on Wednesday (September 18), the multi-titled doc is due out in 2025 on ID and Max and will follow Combs' rise to power in the music industry, as well as how the Bad Boy Records founder allegedly abuse of that power for years. Along with archival footage and in-depth reporting from Rolling Stone — which is one of Bulletin boardhis sister publications — the project will feature comments and testimonials from people who have accused the hip-hop titan, as well as those who knew and worked with him before he was even famous.
The series is produced by Maxine Productions — the company behind it Quiet on set: The Dark Side of Kids TV — and IPC in association with Rolling Stone Films.
Combs is currently being held in jail after a New York grand jury indicted him on charges of sexual assault, extortion, sex trafficking, kidnapping, arson, bribery and more. Federal prosecutors also accused him of running a criminal enterprise centered on a “pervasive pattern of abuse of women.”
At the hearing on Tuesday, the rapper pleaded not guilty to all charges, and his lawyers also asked that he be released on $50 million bail, saying he would surrender his passport and be subject to constant monitoring. However, the “I'll Be Missing You” musician was also denied bail, meaning he will remain behind bars as he awaits trial. If convicted of all charges, he could face a maximum sentence of life in prison.
