After much speculation, we now know who he chose Kendrick Lamar for the Super Bowl Half time show. The show's producer confirmed it was by Jay-Z decision.
As spotted on Rap-Up, The culture now has better clarity on how Compton, California's talent headlined Super Bowl LIX. this week, Variety radius to event producer Jesse Collins and the entertainment executive provided more context on the decision and why Lil Wayne was not chosen to perform in his hometown. “We love Wayne,” she said. “There's always a chance in Vegas about who's going to do it. But I think we're going to put on an amazing show with Kendrick, and I think everyone is going to love the halftime show. I know Kendrick will work extremely hard to put on an amazing show.”
Collins went on to say that HOV finally gave the green light to close K. Dot. “It's a decision that Jay makes. Since we've been on this show, he's done it every year and it's been amazing. It is always chosen correctly,” he added. Immediately following the announcement confirming that the “Not Like Us” MC would be taking the slot, there was an outcry asking why Lil Wayne wasn't chosen to perform. Days later, Weezy released a video in which he revealed he was hurt by the snub, but the outcry of support was humiliating.
“It broke me, and I'm just trying to put myself back together,” she explained. “But my God, you all helped me. Thanks to all my peers, my friends, my family, my friends on sports TV and everyone who repeats me. I really appreciate that, I really do. I feel like I let you all down by not having this opportunity, but I'm working on myself and working.”
Super Bowl LIX will take place on Sunday, February 9, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.
