The mundane fades away under the fiery rhythms of Purple Disco Machine's music on their surprising new album, Paradise.
Now available through Sony Music, Paradise is the Grammy-winning producer’s most evocative work yet. The electric tingle of anticipation before a first kiss, the warmth of the sun on bare skin, the effervescent laughter of a shared joke: the album is a passport to those experiences.
Across 15 tracks and lively collaborations with Nile Rodgers, Metronomy, Duke Dumont and more, PDM delivers his interpretations of what it means to feel truly alive. There are no jumps here, just dopamine-fueled nu-disco with a retro twist.
A sure highlight is the synth-heavy “Bad Company,” with enough cowbells to finally satisfy Will Ferrell. Another standout is the MORGAN-featuring “Can't Stop Loving You,” which drops the tempo for a slow-paced dance-pop song akin to velvet curtains and cognac.
Elsewhere, infectious melodies from Purple Disco Machine and Chromeo worm their way into your consciousness on the funky, vocoder-laden “Heartbreaker.” The same goes for “All My Life,” a disco anthem that turns on the nostalgia machine to a time when the genre ruled the night, but with a contemporary twist that keeps it fresh and relevant.
Purple Disco Machine is out now Paradise on a self-titled tour in which he will perform with a full band for the first time in his career. The new live show is “nothing I’ve ever done before,” he said in a press release.
“The live show is a completely new production, it's really unlike anything I've done before: songs are combined into mashups, new songs are included, old songs are included, in new variations. And all of this with live artists, with live singers, with dancers, in a completely new form.”
