Louis The Child released a new album today, The sun risesBut apparently this only scratches the surface of his musical vault.
Beloved for their bubbly, danceable pop, Louis The Child's Robby Hauldren and Freddy Kennett are currently prepping an unreleased, full-length hip-hop album. EDM.com The duo wrote each track and even rapped their own lyrics, according to a press release.
The duo produced the project in Malibu, where they lived temporarily before today's release of The sun risesWhile hip-hop music “never saw the light of day,” it played a pivotal role in the creation of his long-awaited second album, which was released today via Interscope.
“Writing material for this hip-hop project allowed me to connect with a lot of the feelings from our hometown of Chicago, and it brought back the emotions and feelings that inspired me when I first started with Louis the Child,” Hauldren said. “A lot of the music on this new project taps into a lot of the sounds we used earlier in our career, but through a much more refined and advanced lens, with all those years of experience.”
It may seem surprising at first glance, but Louis The Child is known for testing the waters of other genres. In late 2022, the duo released Black Marble, an alias under which they produce “experimental electronic music with a darker, more clubby and European late night vibe,” they told EDM.com in an interview at the time.
It's important to note that Louis The Child has not formally announced the untitled hip-hop project as of this writing.
