Elton John has praised Fontaines DC as “the best band out there right now”.
The comment came in a recent interview John conducted with Fontaines DC frontman Grian Chatten, discussing the band's new album, Romance“After seeing you at Glastonbury and listening to your new album, I see that you’ve grown with each album,” said John. “You seem to have found your footing with this album in an incredible way… it’s a brilliant record.”

For his part, Chatten agreed that the band feels like it has found solid footing. “I feel like this is the first time I haven’t been chasing another record, you know what I mean?” he said. “I’m going to enjoy being in this.”
John reaffirmed his admiration, saying: “I think this album takes you (and me, who has been in the band for a long time) to a different level, and it will stay there for a long, long time. But more importantly: the music is really, really, really special. Congratulations on everything, Grian, it's really wonderful.”

Romance It was released just under a month ago and was named by Consequence as one of the best releases to arrive last August. Its tracks include standouts like “In the Modern World,” which earned Song of the Week status when it was released, and the lead single, “Starbuster,” which Consequence praised as the best song of 2024 so far last June.
