Taylor Swift has made a significant donation to the nonprofit organization Feeding America to aid in recovery efforts from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. According to Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, executive director of Feeding America, the $5 million donation will go toward the distribution of essential food and water.
“Together, we can make a real impact by supporting families as they face the challenges ahead,” Babineaux-Fontenot said in a statement. “Thank you, Taylor, for supporting us in the movement to end hunger and for helping communities in need.”
Hurricane Helene decimated parts of North Carolina, Georgia and eastern Tennessee, while Florida will take the brunt of Hurricane Milton. Swift isn't the only artist offering to help with recovery efforts: Dolly Parton also led a $5 million donation to relief efforts in partnership with Walmart, while the Metallica Foundation offered $100,000.
Meanwhile, multiple benefit shows are in the works, including a concert by Sturgill Simpson, another by Luke Combs, Eric Church, Billy Strings and James Taylor, and a third by Ben Folds and Goose.
Earlier this week, Swift was crowned the richest female musician and now trails only Jay-Z among the world's richest musicians.
Thank you, @taylorswift13for supporting the movement to end hunger and helping communities in need after the #HurricaneHelene and #HurricaneMilton.
