Dream Theater have announced their sixteenth studio album, parasomniaarriving on February 7th. The video for the lead single “Night Terror” has also been revealed.
The song is the first studio recording to feature drummer Mike Portnoy since 2009. Black clouds and rays of hope and lasts almost 10 minutes.

Portnoy immediately makes his presence heard, leading the introduction with a flurry of drum beats before guitarist John Petrucci locks in the song's central riff, cueing the opening verse. The band deftly stays in the background in front of singer James LaBrie's soaring vocals, but the instrumental fireworks begin about halfway through the track. This is what DT fans have been waiting for for 15 years: a hyper-technical progressive workout guided by Mike Portnoy's propulsive drums – the sound of a band in top form.
Lasting 71 minutes across eight tracks, parasomnia was produced by Petrucci and engineered by James “Jimmy T” Meslin, with mixing by Andy Sneap. The band's long-time collaborator Hugh Syme once again contributed the cover.
parasomnia will be available in multiple physical configurations, including a deluxe 2-CD/Blu-Ray box set (featuring instrumentals, a Dolby Atmos 5.1 mix by Mark Gittins, high-resolution stereo mixes, animated visualizers, and a 68-page booklet). Several double LP vinyl variants will also be available, plus a standalone digipak CD release. Pre-orders begin Friday (October 11) via this location.
