Nora Fatehi, a multicultural artist fluent in English, Hindi, French and Moroccan Arabic, talks about her unique blend of music and dance styles. She talks about her journey from Toronto to Bollywood, working with Jason Derulo and CK, plans for a 2025 tour and more!
Nora Fatehi:
Hi, I'm Nora Fatehi and you're following Billboard news. So I think what makes me different as an artist, not only do I come from India, I'm not Indian, Moroccan, but Canadian. I have these three identities that make my brand Nora Fatehi, and that makes me a unique artist. And many people worldwide from different parts of the world can relate to me and see a little bit of themselves in me. And I think with my upbringing in Toronto, being so cosmopolitan, I've been exposed to different styles of music from Dance Hall, Afro, Bollywood, Arabic, Hip-Hop. I have taken all of this and injected it into my art. I also make sure that the dance styles are very different. So in some videos, you might see us doing an afro. In some other videos, you might see us belly dancing. You might see us doing strict Bollywood dance styles. But I make sure that in the music I produce, I also make sure visually, that the dance styles are very different. And while I'm doing that, I've gotten a huge, big, diverse fan base that has fallen in love with the kind of steps that I do, the hook steps, the choreography. And I noticed on social media, people were dancing to the music I was putting out and copying the steps of the hook. And I'm like, “God, let me create a platform for them on social media.”
