Yeah Yeah Yeahs' “Maps” earns a second week at No. 1 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 chart, while five songs – four of them debuting – enter the top 10 of the Oct. 19 chart.
The TikTok Billboard Top 50 is a weekly ranking of the most popular songs on TikTok in the United States based on creations, video views, and user engagement. The most recent chart reflects activity from October 7th to 13th. TikTok activity is not included Bulletin board charts other than the TikTok Billboard Top 50.
“Maps”, from the 2003 album Yeah Yeah Yeahs Fever to Tellpeaked at No. 87 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2004. TikTok's resurgence has propelled the song to new heights on chart-topping music streaming services. the song racked up 1.9 million official streams in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 10, up 23%, according to Luminate.
The tune remains driven by a pair of TikTok trends. One is a dancewhile the other shows creators using a filter to remove their facial features, only to have said features float back onto their face, sometimes in the wrong place. A sped-up version of “Maps” contributed to the song's success on TikTok as well.
Alphaville's “Forever Young,” which ruled the TikTok Billboard Top 50 dated Oct. 5, rebounds 3-2 on the latest chart, followed by a debut on John Mackk's “Pose for Me,” featuring Natalie Nunn, the which bows to No. 3.
“Pose for Me” was originally released in March, but a remix was released on September 6 that has driven the lion's share of activity ever since. With its self-titled command, the song has prompted a variety of pose-related dance moves on TikTok, generally centered around Nunn's verse that continues, “Bad, pose for me/ A– fat, thin fat, no belly.”
“Pose for Me” marks the first appearance in a Bulletin board chart for both Mackk and Nunn. The song earned 736,000 streams in the week ending October 10.
Gracie Abrams' “I Love You, I'm Sorry” isn't new to the TikTok Billboard Top 50, peaking at No. 34 in September. But the October 19 ranking finds it reaching new heights, re-entering the chart at No. 4. This is consistent with a return to Bulletin board's Streaming Songs chart? it re-entered at No. 49 on the October 12 list and reached a new peak of No. 23 on the latest chart, thanks to 11.5 million streams, up 41%.
Its resurgence is partly linked to a new version of the song. Abrams performed a live recording of the song for Vevo Extended Play, uploading it to her YouTube on October 2. Latest TikTok downloads Again zero in on Abrams' “lay on the horn to prove that it haunts me” line, with the majority somehow relating to past and present relationships.
KSI's “Thick of It,” featuring Trippie Redd, debuts at No. 6 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50, while the song debuts at No. 84 on the Hot 100. Some say all the publicity is good publicity, and in the case of “Thick of It,” many of the top-performing TikTok uploads refer to negative reviews the song has received.
Johnny Cash's “Folsom Prison Blues” bows at No. 7, though a remix of the song featured in the film's trailer Wrath of Man. His TikTok usage in the last week of tracking revolves around uploads showing the devastation of Hurricane Milton in the US (and previously that of Hurricane Helene).
It's Cash's second top 10 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 of 2024. “The Chicken in Black” peaked at No. 6 in May.
The week's final top 10 debut belongs to Akon, whose “Akon's Beautiful Day” debuts at No. 8. It's a new song from the veteran singer-songwriter, released on Oct. 4 after being teased on TikTok in the past few weeks . Many of the top uploads are from Akon himself, along with me other uses.
