Judd Apatow's New York Comedy festival Judd Apatow & Friends show at the Beacon Theater on Saturday, November 9, will benefit the American Red Cross of North Carolina. The director and comedian will donate all of the artist's proceeds to the organization after Hurricane Helene.
“This show is about more than making people laugh — it's about rallying for those in need,” Apatow said in a statement. “All proceeds will directly support the American Red Cross' Hurricane Helene efforts in North Carolina, as it is necessary for us to come together and rebuild after such a disaster.”
Apatow, 56, has directed, written and produced films including The 40-year-old Panagia (2005), Knock Up (2007) and the King of Staten Island (2020). He has won three Primetime Emmys for his work on programs starring three top comedians – The Ben Stiller Show (1993), The Zen Diaries of Garry Sandling (2018) and The American Dream by George Carlin (2022).
As a stand-up comedian, the native New Yorker appeared The Tonight Show. The comedy of 2017 on Netflix Judd Apatow: The Returnreceived critical acclaim.
The music community has been greatly strengthened in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Taylor Swift, Dolly Parton, Morgan Wallen, Miranda Lambert, Luke Combs and Eric Church have contributed in various ways, as have Metallica's All Within My Hands Foundation and artists such as REM, Fleet Foxes, Jason Isbell, Phish and The Decemberists . contributed tracks to a benefit album.
