After winning the WNBA championship, no one has more right to say “Watashi wa star” than the ladies of the New York Liberty — and Megan Thee Stallion is giving her full support.
Backstage at The Tonight Show On Wednesday night (October 23), the rapper and the basketball team — who both appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon — came together to perform Meg's viral dance “Mamushi” in a video posted on NY Liberty's Instagram History. Dressed in a sleek black dress and high ponytail, the Grammy winner leads the pack as players Kennedy Burke, Jonquel Q Jones, Kayla Thornton and Jaylyn Sherrod mimic her dance moves with varying degrees of precision, smiling for the camera.
The “Hiss” rapper also shared photos with the group on Instagramwriting, “s/o to my girls for putting me on the team 😂 @nyliberty tell them what this CHICAS tastes like.” In one snap, Meg is holding her own Liberty jersey and sticking her tongue out. In others, she and Jones share genuine smiles backstage while popping bottles of Houston Hottie's soon-to-be-released tequila brand.
Of the group Tonight show The visit comes three days after the Liberty — who shot down Fallon's monologue to show off the team's new trophy — became the WNBA champions for the first time on Sunday (Oct. 20), defeating the Minnesota Lynx 67-62 in overtime. It also arrives two days before the deluxe edition of Meg's No. 3 Billboard 200 album is released Meganwhich will feature a remix of “Mamushi” featuring TWICE, in addition to several new tracks.
“I feel like I have to feed the Hotties, I have to keep them stimulated” the rapper said of Megan: Act II in Fallon. “You have to understand that this is the year of the Megan Thee Stallion.”
