James Taylor is backing the Democratic ticket as the presidential election fast approaches.
The “You've Got a Friend” singer will join Kamala Harris' running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, during his rally in Wilmington, North Carolina on Thursday (October 24). At the event, Walz will speak to state residents about their power to vote, encouraging them to get to the polls early.
Taylor will be performing with his wife, Kim, and son, Henry, although it has not yet been revealed which track they will be performing.
The multi-Grammy winner was previously scheduled to appear at the Democratic National Convention in August, but unfortunately time was cut from the schedule. “It was exciting to see and hear so many of the speakers at the opening night of the Democratic convention here in Chicago,” he said after the event. “But it became clear as the evening progressed that there would be no time for 'You've Got a Friend' with cellos and voices.”
He continued, “Sorry to disappoint, but a great and inspiring, quintessentially American moment. It was our honor to be there…”
Earlier this week, it was announced that Bruce Springsteen will appear at a series of When We Vote We Win shows this month in support of the Harris/Walz ticket. The two events will be held alongside Harris and former President Barack Obama on October 24 and 28 in Atlanta and Philadelphia, respectively. Additional When We Vote We Win rallies will be announced in the coming days, according to Rolling Stone.
