This is the 3rd EP from Chicago, Illinois emcee & Top Dawg Entertainment affiliate Kembe X. He started over a decade ago with his debut EP Soundtrack II Armageddon & debut mixtape Self-governmenthis profile will continue to grow on the strength of his debut LP Answer back as well as a self-titled 2nd EP & the sophomore effort I was depressed until I did this. His comeback attempt from this spring Sleep paralysis Production Hippie Sabotage became his most recognized work and raised his expectations It's not that deep.
“National Anthem” opens with some guitars that turn into an orchestral trap talking about everyone who wants to see him fall, while “Death & Taxxxes” works on that dynamic beat with a drill influenced at the beginning before a trap direction on the other explaining that you don't need shampoo to trip over him. “I'm Cool” gets as psychedelic smooth as it wants, while the standout “Introvert Extrovert” featuring Ab-Soul discusses the exact trait.
Moving on from there, the bombastic 'Air Bae' bends all over the place just before 'British' with TF finding it crazy that they both clown each other for being as sweet as they are. “Spilled Milk” has an upbeat trap vibe that assures it's got 'em, and “Neck on the Loose” aggressively promises to clap this opponent the next time they hook up. “arizona summer Hope” ends the EP on an acoustic note singing that the chick is seeing ghosts.
Sleep paralysis stood out noticeably from the rest of his discography for a more personal approach than some of his earlier work and It's not that deep he continues on this trajectory since he used to resent the fact that he was always the type of person who was always trying to do shit, except now he's at a point where he's having fun with it. Even if it's just for a brief moment.
