Hours after CoSign Alums Geese announced the departure of guitarist Foster Hudson, self-titled band Goose coincidentally announced the departure of founding drummer Ben Atkind.
“Over the past few months, we've had some very difficult internal conversations that have unfortunately led to Ben's departure,” the remaining members of Goose wrote in a statement on social media on Friday (December 22), citing “fundamental personal and creative differences. “
The statement continued: “We all love Ben very much and want nothing but the best for him. He is a world class drummer and we look forward to watching and supporting his future endeavors… While this has been a difficult and arduous time, we are also incredibly excited for the next chapter of this band. We'll be heading into the new year with a renewed sense of creative fire that will allow us to dive deeper into the music and continue to bring you the Goose experience you know and love.”
Atkind wrote in his own statement: “Long-term creative companionship requires personal development. It requires consistent communication, mutual empathy and a willingness to compromise. Although this is something we tried, these elements fell out of sync, where we are today. I will forever be grateful for my time with my bandmates and wish them the best as we prepare to go our separate ways.”
Goose will continue as a four piece of Jeff Arevalo, Peter Anspach, Rick Mitarotonda and Trevor Weekz, the latter two of whom founded the band with Atkind in 2014. See both statements below.
Earlier this year, Goose shared a surprise EP Autumn passage. Their last LP was 2022 Dripfield.
