Westside Gunn remains faithful to the tradition of releasing a new work every Halloween. MC says 11 it is his most personal work ever.
It looks like the Buffalo, NY native is looking to close out 2024 strong. Every year his fans wait for him to release something new on the spooky unofficial holiday and he didn't disappoint. 11 features five new tracks all produced by Denny Laflare. With no guest appearances from other rappers, this effort is all Gunn as he prepares this loyal fan base for the release of his new album I'm still praying which is scheduled to drop on Friday (November 1). According to the press release, FLYGOD considers this project to be his most personal. “11 it's the most personal project I've ever done, it's dedicated to my brother who was killed in April, but it's about my brother who has a life sentence fighting to come home,” explains Gunn. “This is the reality for Westside Gunn.”
“Stone” opens things up with a drop from the late great DJ Kay Slay and segues into a slow but somber instrumental. Here Gunn meets his friend Donald “Sly” Green, who is serving four life sentences. From there we return to the classic Griselda sound with “Unkle Howdy” and “Cain Tejada”. Plus, we get a verse from Griselda's inner poet Keisha Plum for the “BIG DUMP BALLAD.” You can buy and stream Westside Gunn's 11 here.
