Songs Of A Lost World, the 14th studio album from Robert Smith and co., is the band’s first release of original material in no less than 16 years. Now, it could become their first LP to reach the Official Albums Chart summit since 1992 record Wish.
In a career that now spans more than 40 years, The Cure have claimed 11 additional Top 10 LPs in the UK, as well as four Top 10 singles. As Songs Of A Lost World eyes Number 1, the band’s Greatest Hits could also re-enter the Top 40 at Number 25.
Elsewhere in the Top 10, both Ed Sheeran’s +–=÷× (Tour Collection) (6) and Gracie Abrams’ former Number 1 record The Secret Of Us (10) could bounce back into the chart’s upper echelon.
Further down, US rapper Lil Uzi Vert’s fourth album Eternal Atake 2 is cruising for Top 40 debut (23), while Weezer’s self-titled debut Weezer could re-enter the chart for its 30th anniversary (26), having originally peaked at Number 23 in 1994.
Australian trio Chase Atlantic’s fourth LP Lost In Heaven is predicted to become their first record to chart in the UK (32).
And finally, The Only Ones vocalist Peter Perrett could see The Cleansing become his first solo album to chart inside the UK Top 40, currently heading for a Number 37 debut.
