Tyler, the Creator has released his eighth studio album, Chromaticityon October 28. And on Monday (November 4), the rapper celebrated that album debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
The set opened with 299,500 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending Oct. 31, his best week in terms of units and the sixth-biggest debut of 2024, which is notable given that the album arrived on an off-cycle Monday, and therefore he had only four days of activity in the first week of follow-up. (Most albums are released on Fridays, giving them seven full days of activity in the chart's opening week.)
“300 thousand on Monday morning. thank you to every listener,” he wrote afterwards His Instagram Story upon republishing Bulletin boardannouncement of his achievement.
Chromaticity marks the third no. 1 Tyler album, after 2021 Call me if you get lost and of 2019 Igorboth also won Grammys for Best Rap album. He announced the album on October 17, 11 days before its release. He also held a listening event in Los Angeles on the Sunday night before he arrived, and Tyler performed Atlanta, Boston and Brooklyn last week to perform the new songs. He also scored his first two top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 this week (chart dated Nov. 9), with “St. Chroma,” featuring Daniel Ceasar, which debuted at No. 7 and the 'Noid went up 43-10.
Next year, he'll take the LP around the world on Chromakopia: The World tour.
