After officially confirming his vote for the Harris-Walz campaign via instagram On November 3, Lady Gaga took the stage at a Kamala Harris election-eve rally in Philadelphia. The Grammy and Oscar winner performed a performance of “God Bless America.”
“Today I keep in my heart all the hard and tenacious efforts women who made me who I am,” Gaga said in a brief speech after her performance. “I am casting my vote for someone who will be a president for all Americans. Tomorrow, let's make sure all your voices are heard.”
Oprah Winfrey also appeared at the event, which was held on the iconic steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Another Harris rally was held simultaneously in Pittsburgh, with Katy Perry taking the headline role.
Lady Gaga is the latest star to offer support to Harris, joining the likes of Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Bruce Springsteen, Billie Eilish, Neil Young and Eminem in the Democratic field for the 2024 election. Other artists who have endorsed Harris' entry -Walz include Insane Clown Posse, Alanis Morissette and Jason Isbell.
Her performance of “God Bless America” at the Harris rally is one of Gaga's first major appearances since the release of Joker: Folie à Deuxwhich failed at the box office but offered a delicious excuse for the actress and singer to launch a very fun jazz companion project inspired by her character in the film.
Last month, Mother Monster also made a big return to pop music with her latest single, “Disease,” the first taste of her upcoming seventh studio album.
