It looks like Drake may have taken an unscheduled Air Drake trip recently. After Young Thug was released from prison, the 6 God reportedly flew Thugger and gave him $1 million in cash as a welcome home gift.
DJ Akademiks claimed during a live stream that Drizzy blew up at Thug over the weekend, but he prefaced his claims by saying he didn't hear it from Drake himself.
“When Thug gets out of jail, the conversation goes like this: They say two hours later, Drake jumped on Thug and allegedly gave him a [million dollars]Akademiks said. “Drake didn't tell me that. Drake will hit me up and be like, 'Who told you that?'”
Bulletin board reps for Drake and Young Thug have been reached for comment.
Drake was a staunch supporter of Thug while the latter was fighting for his freedom during YSL's trial before his release. Drizzy appeared to suggest him financially supported Thyg when the OVO boss posted an Instagram Story in October that slammed Thug's SP5DER brand. “I don't talk for the sake of talking, I really endured [bread emoji] at [briefcase emoji] 3 Jeff,” he wrote on Instagram Stories at the time.
While some artists seemingly turned on Drake amid his feud with Kendrick Lamar, Young Thug seemed to be in Drizzy's corner.
Thug's friend Mariah the Scientist said Bulletin board earlier this year that he would play Drake and Kendrick diss tracks over the prison phone for Thug to update him on the beef.
“I'm playing him [diss] songs from the phone and s–t. He's a fan of music in general,” he said in May. “He argues with everyone. I don't think he could ever – let me not talk about him. But he likes music. He thinks it's interesting, sure. We were listening to some of the songs.”
Just weeks before his final deal, Young Thug called on Drake, Future and Metro Boomin to make peace and make it right with a tweet from behind bars.
“@Drake @1future @MetroBoomin we're all bruddas. Music just isn't the same without us working together,” he tweeted.
they were conflicting reports about the state of Drake and Future's relationship, but perhaps with Thugger free to get them all in the same room once again.
Young Thug was released on Oct. 31 after reaching a plea deal that sentenced him to 15 years of probation but allowed him to regain his freedom.
Drake and Young Thug have collaborated on numerous occasions over the years, and Drizzy even made a couple of guest appearances on Thug's Business Is Business album, which was released in June 2023 and reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200.
