CKY's Chad I Ginsberg talks about the recent drama with Alien Ant Farm's Dryden Mitchell that caused the West Chester rockers to embark on their UK tour together.
Just hours before the tour kicked off at Margate's Dreamland on November 9, the Alien Ant Farm frontman announced CKY's removal after an alleged row, accusing Ginsberg of “treating a lot of the crew and trashing the band members” and claiming that things came to a head at Ginsberg. allegedly punching him in the face.
Taking to social media On November 9, Mitchell wrote: “Chad from CKY hasn't figured out how to live with others after all these years.”
“He will no longer be on the Alien Ant Farm tour for the rest of the UK shows after Chad punched me in the face earlier today,” Mitchell added. “I've watched him treat a lot of crew and band members like trash at shows in Europe and cause general drama in our camp.”
Later in the statement, he explained: “Today we still had business to deal with and I told his manager what Chad was having, verbally, and to pick up the bus with all his messes every day for other people to clean up… Well, he punched me in the face and pretty much went away as I imagine he will for all his future problems.”
“I would like these shows to continue and apologize to all CKY fans for Chad's behavior. We have zero hard feelings for Jess and Elvis at CKY and are disappointed to see them go, but I would never knowingly put myself in volatile situations, so this had to end.”
Mitchell concluded the lengthy post by arguing that if Ginsberg seeks treatment, “maybe in 25 years … we can shake hands.” CKY's appearance on the UK tour has been replaced by bands such as INME, Rat's Nest, The Fear and The Nocturnal Affair.
Ginsberg first responded to the allegations with a scathing message, urging fans to get their money back: “UK CKY fans get your money back!!! I had NO choice and a GOOD reason for what happened. I will always stand up for myself. You know me much better than that!'
He added: “More information will follow. Apologies to the fans.”
Now, Ginsberg has taken to social media again to explain his side of the story, describing the incident as “self-defense.” In a series of Instagram stories, Ginsberg told fans: “There's nothing wrong with defending yourself from a bad guy. If you are attacked or really feel threatened, don't be afraid and stop the threat as best you can.”
He continued: “I had to protect myself. It was a split second reaction to a very angry guy who mumbled and then yelled #*%! at me from 10 feet away charging at ME, in my personal space! It comes to me. He attacked me! I felt a physical threat and if I had not tried to avoid the attack, I would have been attacked. For sake.”
“I could say a lot more. But the situation is bad for everyone! I would like to stop. I probably shouldn't put everything in everything. It's nobody's business. This is not news. no matter how unfortunate the situation is all together.”
Alien Ant Farm continues with the rest of the tour, while CKY fans hope for future shows. Both bands are set to play at Download 2025, although it is not yet known if they will perform on the same day.
Despite the alleged incident, the band's Australian tour, which is currently scheduled to take place in February, will reportedly go ahead, according to supporters.
“We are aware of an altercation between a member of Alien Ant Farm and a member of their support, CKY,” supporters The Phoenix he wrote in a statement on Nov. 10. “We spoke at length with the representative of both artists this morning. “At this point, it's best to let tempers cool and believe that a solution/compromise can be found in the coming days that will allow the shows (all of which are selling out quickly) to go ahead as scheduled.”
The Phoenix he also responded to claims that the incident between Ginsberg and Mitchell would affect the Australian tour, noting, “We're working with both bands to calm things down and keep the tour intact. In the words of The Offspring, we might have to keep them separate…”
