Calvin Harris dropped something special for Amazing Music users today (November 15) with a new remix of his and Rihanna's 2016 collaboration “This Is What You Came For.”
The edit cuts the nearly four-minute original down to a tighter two-and-a-half-minute take, speeding up the BPM, adding some breathy effects to Rihanna's vocals, and turning the drop into a tight, driving, percussion-forward release.
“This Is What You Came For (Calvin Harris VIP Mix – Amazon Music Original)” is available only on Amazon Music.
The remix is the first new music from the Scottish producer since August, when a compilation album of some of his greatest hits, 96 Monthswas released. This compilation included the original “This Is What You Came For”, along with 2018's “One Kiss” featuring Dua Lipa, 2015's “How Deep Is Your Love” featuring the Disciples, 2023's “Miracle” featuring Ellie Goulding, 2019's “Giant” featuring Rag O 'n'Bone Man and his 2019 cover of his 2009 track “I'm Not Alone”. Since their respective release dates, the songs on the collection have been streamed over nine billion times on Spotify alone.
Meanwhile, the original “This Is What You Came For” spent 32 weeks on the Hot 100 in the summer of 2016, peaking at No. 3 on the chart. It marked Harris and Rihanna's second collaboration, with their 2011 era-defining song “We Found Love” spending 10 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 in 2011 and 2012.
Taylor Swift is among the writers on 'This Is What You Came For', with the superstar writing the song under the pseudonym 'Nils Sjöberg' when she and Harris were dating. The song debuted on her Eras tour during Swift's stop last June in Liverpool, England.
