Katy Perry will play her first full UK tour in seven years on her upcoming Lifetimes tour. Slate will see them play five shows across the UK in Glasgow, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham and London in October 2025.
Perry released her seventh studio album, 143in September and the LP charted at No. 6 on both the Billboard 200 and the UK Official Albums Chartits lowest positions in over a decade.
The announcement says the Lifetimes tour will be “a career-spanning series of live performances, including all the hits from her multi-million-selling albums.” Perry is set to kick off the tour in Mexico next year, before heading to Australia for a string of shows and then additional Latin American dates next September. He will perform at Capital FM's Jingle Bell Ball at London's O2 Arena on December 8.
Perry also announced that £1 from every ticket sold on the UK leg of the tour will be donated to the Music Venue Trust, an organization that champions and supports grassroots music venues and venues across the UK tickets will go on sale at 10am .m. (GMT) on November 22 here.
Speaking about the donation, Perry said: “I'm proud to be donating £1 from every UK ticket of The Lifetimes tour to the Music Venue Trust so that venues like the Water Rats and Scala, where I played my first shows at UK, to be able to continue to bring in the next generation of musical talent.”
Mark Davyd, CEO of MVT, added: “We want to say a huge thank you to Katy and her team for stepping up to support grassroots venues, artists and supporters. The contribution from these shows will keep venues open, get new and emerging artists on tour and enable supporters to bring the best new music to our communities.”
Perry is the latest act to partner with MVT to help support the future of grassroots music venues. Earlier this year, Coldplay announced that 10% of all proceeds from their upcoming 10-night stand at London's Wembley Stadium next summer will go to the grassroots music scene.
Talking to you Bulletin boardDavid said “our door is very open to anyone” when it comes to donations. He added: “I want this to be the new normal – I don't think it's foolishly ambitious. There are too many examples of industries – all well-functioning industries – to reinvest for future profits. Once you start talking about it as an investment program in research and development, I don't think companies should resist it, but they should think “this makes perfect sense”.
Last week, the UK government backed the idea of a voluntary levy on all stadium and arena tickets sold in the UK live music industry “as soon as possible” to “secure the future of the grassroots music sector”.
The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) said in a report that, “We believe this would be the fastest and most effective mechanism for a small proportion of the revenue from the biggest shows to be invested in a sustainable grassroots sector.”
