Manowar played his first US concert in a decade at Brooklyn's sold-out Kings Theater on Saturday (Nov. 30).
Shows on American soil are few and far between for the New York power metal legends, whose enormous popularity in Europe has led them to tour mainly abroad. His last concert in the United States is believed to have taken place in February 2014 at the kings of metal anniversary tour.
Fans traveled far and wide for the rare American appearance in Brooklyn and were treated to a career-spanning set, beginning with Manowar's 1982 song of the same name. battle hymns and the main song kings of metaltwo of his greatest anthems.
Bassist Joey DeMaio had promoted the concert in 2023 instagram publication, promising a “full show” on par with what they have “been doing in Europe for many, many years.” That included full barbarian clothing and armor, a huge visual backdrop with epic fantasy scenes, and plenty of choruses and chants for the “Manowarriors” band’s devoted audience, as seen in fan footage from the Brooklyn show.
Elsewhere, Manowar revisited two songs from 1984. hammer sign – the title track and “Mountains” – in recognition of the album's 40th anniversary. In total, 11 different Manowar releases were represented throughout the setlist, which ended with an encore of “Warriors of the World United” and the Fighting the world Ripper “Black Wind, Fire and Steel”.
Although there are no more US concerts on the horizon, Manowar is set to resume his tour of the European circuit with an extensive itinerary of shows through 2025 (get tickets here). A new album, the first since 2012 the lord of steelis also in the works and tentatively scheduled for release in 2025.
