Keffe D's The big day is just months away, but he's hoping to spend this moment at home. He is looking to be placed under house arrest before the Tupac trial.
TMZ is reference that the Compton, California native is probably spending his time on supervised release as he waits for the big day. Last week, Duane Keith “Keefe D” Davis' legal team formally requested that he be placed under house arrest, claiming that his health is deteriorating and the 60-year-old is not a threat to the community. If house arrest is not an option, they asked that he be given a “reasonable” bond. According KTNV submitted a proposal detailing their reasoning. “Duane should not be denied bail in this case. It cannot be said that the proof is clear and the presumption great that Duane is guilty of first degree murder for Shakur's death,” the motion said. “This court should release Duane to house arrest with electronic monitoring pending trial.”
Prosecutors strongly disagree and say witnesses are at risk if he is released. According to 8 News now The state says Keefe D spoke with his family on Oct. 9, where his son told him “around town, they're talking about it being a green light on our end.” Prosecutors argue that this is code for “authorization to kill.” Additionally, they report adding that the call came shortly after his lawyers were given a list of cooperating witnesses.
Keefe D was arrested in September 2023 for his involvement in the murder of Tupac Shakur. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The trial is set to begin in June.
